Coxcatlan Cave Zone XXVIII (Pleistocene of Mexico)
Also known as Tc 50
Where: Puebla, Mexico (18.3° N, 97.2° W: paleocoordinates 18.3° N, 97.2° W)
When: Late/Upper Pleistocene (0.1 - 0.0 Ma)
• bed/horizon: Zone XXVIII
Environment/lithology: cave
• "yellow rock dust"; Pleistocene age of zones XXVIII - XXV is challenged by Hardy 1996, but a) none of the three lower zones is carbon dated, b) all three include Equus, c) all four include Antilocapra, Lepus, and Gopherus, and lack Odocoileus and Sylvilagus, which are abundant in all higher levels, and d) there is a lithological break above zone XXV, so I accept Flannery's provisional Pleistocene date for the three lowest levels
Collection methods: quarrying
