• "between 10.4 and 8.8 Ma" (chrons C5n to C4n or Tortonian) based on biochronology and entirely normal polarity of the section

Environment/lithology: "channel"; ferruginous, nodular sandstone

• the "section is mainly composed of a succession of light-coloured sands and gray clays, with several ferruginous conglomerate nodules" and the Khoratpithecus specimen is shown as coming from a sandstone and said to be "from a channel deposit rich in iron-hydroxides in a nodular layer"
