Environment/lithology: limestone and shale

• The interval is represented by most of the Chainman shale; by its more calcareous equivalent toward the east in Utah, the Manning Canyon Fm.; by sandy and conglomeratic sediments of the Scotty Wash and Diamond Peak Fms.; and by a variety of red and green shales, thin quartzose sandstones, and brown bioclastic limestones which have been called the Illipah Fm. and are the same as part of unit Bsb of the Bird Spring Fm.
