Ediacara Range (Ediacaran of Australia)

Also known as Restudied Cyclomedusa plexus, Rawnsley Quartzite - Weiguo, 1986

Where: South Australia, Australia (30.0° S, 138.0° E: paleocoordinates 16.6° N, 165.2° W)

• basin-level geographic resolution

When: White Sea other zone, Ediacara Member (Rawnsley Quartzite Formation), Ediacaran (635.0 - 541.0 Ma)

• Stratigraphy shows wavey bedding/regular cycles of intertidal sedimentation. The fossil remains are embedded by fine silts with some found on bases of weathered slabs and some on freshly exposed lower-bedding plane surfaces.

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified sandstone

• the spriggia wadeae occur on the upper bedding plane of purplish medium-grained, feldspathic sandstone slabs. note: other species are described as occurring in quartzite slabs.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: cast

Collection methods: Collection is a compilation of 30 years of collecting by Australian geologists and paleontologists of the Department of Geology, University of Adelaide and the South Australian Museum.
