Tuiguidit foreland (PROXY) (Jurassic of Niger)

Also known as Aderbissinat

Where: Agadez, Niger (16.5° N, 7.8° E: paleocoordinates 7.6° N, 2.6° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Tiourarén Formation (Irhazer Group), Late/Upper Jurassic (163.5 - 145.0 Ma)

• Previously considered Bathonian–Callovian, but theropod remains suggest a Late Jurassic age for the fossiliferous horizons of the Tacuarembó Formation (see Serrano-Martínez et al. 2015 and Soto et al. 2020).

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: wet floodplain; red mudstone

• "a swampy environment with seasonal flooding...braided river systems"
• "a reddish, almost solid mudstone, which also shows grey and white streaks, probably caused by alternating oxidative and reducing environments"

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Collected by Braunschweig Museum in 2005, 2007–2008

Collection methods: quarrying, surface (in situ),
