Nordre Laksebugt Locality 42-893 (Pleistocene of Greenland)

Also known as GCI 74-893

Where: Greenland (69.7° N, 54.9° W: paleocoordinates 69.7° N, 54.9° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Middle Pleistocene (0.8 - 0.1 Ma)

• 10m high, divided into three units

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; unlithified, gray, red, silty, sandy sandstone

• The sequence can be divided into three units: Unit 1 is a basal diamicton that is missing to the southwest. Unit 2 is an 8m thick unit consisting of basal shell-rich sand grading upwards into red and grey silt and clay with scattered shells. The silt layers are interbedded with thin diamctons presumably deposited by debris flows. Unit 3 consists of 2m Holocene beach gravel.

Size class: macrofossils

Purpose of describing collection: biostratigraphic analysis
