Also known as Field No. 16, Bed 23

Where: Northwest Territories, Canada (67.9° N, 135.4° W: paleocoordinates 70.6° N, 65.7° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Lower Member (Mount Goodenough Formation), Barremian (129.4 - 125.0 Ma)

• 12-15 ft of sandstone, 426-463 ft above base of section; from Oxyteuthis cf. jasikowi biozone; classified as "lower member" of "upper shale-siltstone division" in Jeletzky (1958); reassigned to "Mount Goodenough Formation" following Fowler and Braun (1993). Both Jeletzky (1958) and Fowler and Braun (1993) assign this biozone to a Barremian age.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified, fine-grained, black, gray sandstone

• Boreal faunal province; inner-middle shelf depositional environment; accumulated during interval of regression and progradation
• Sandstone, dull grey to ash grey, thin-bedded to laminated, fine-grained, shale-like, hard and resistent.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: concretion
