• Formation said to be "Givetian s.l. and basal Frasnian". Samples in upper part of formation. Authors suggest late Givetian to early Frasnian age.

Environment/lithology: marine; siltstone

• "Fragments of brachiopods uncommon...weak fragmentation...and prevalence of large, rather thin-shelled spiriferids over rhynchonellids reflects favorable environment in shallow subtidal zone (BA 3)...seafloor was apparently disturbed by very gentle current...because some shells of Spinocyrtia preserved in life position."
• Formation as a whole: "shales, siltstones, and sandstones, with several layers enriched by ferruginous matrix. The sandstone levels...are richly fossiliferous". These samples are from siltstones.

Collection methods: Focus of monograph is brachiopods and bivalves, but other elements are sometimes mentioned in passing.
