• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From unknown lithostratigraphic unit of Holocene age. THICKNESS: From 5 m thick unit within 18 m thick section. AGE: Holocene. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From silty clay between 1 and 6 m within section.

Environment/lithology: coastal; poorly lithified, shelly/skeletal, gray, silty claystone

• ENVIRONMENT: Muddy bottom just below low tide mark in a sheltered area; quick retreat of the sea and establishment of riverine environments.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Dark grey silty clay containing a small number of shells and shell fragments. LITHIFICATION: Poorly-lithified, a stated to have a nearly firm consistency.
