Environment/lithology: prodelta; micaceous, gray siltstone

• The transitional gradient between the upper Geneseo and

•the Sherburne Formation corresponds to a dysaerobic to aerobic

•facies change. The dysaerobic, dark gray upper Geneseo

•Shale grades laterally and vertically into the light gray shale and

•siltstone of the Sherburne Formation. The Sherburne grades

•from siltstone interbedded with shaly partings up into massive siltstone.

•structures within the Sherburne include lenticular bedding,

•low-relief ripples on the upper surfaces of siltier beds, and

•small-scale cross-laminae.
