Where: Peru (14.2° S, 76.1° W: paleocoordinates 21.2° S, 104.4° W)
• coordinate stated in text
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Paracas Formation, Late/Upper Eocene (37.2 - 33.9 Ma)
• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Paracas Fm, which regionally, unconformably, overlies crystaline bedrock and us unconformably overlain by the Otuma Fm (latest Eocene to Early Oligocene). AGE: Late Eocene in text, on the basis of K/Ar dates, siliceous microfossil zonation, and molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From unknown position within formation.
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, fine-grained sandstone and lithified, medium-grained sandstone
Size class: macrofossils
