Tákli Plain, northwest of Nagpur (Cretaceous of India)

Where: Maharashtra, India (21.2° N, 79.1° E: paleocoordinates 24.9° S, 61.9° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Takli Formation, Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)

• Intertrappean beds within Deccan Traps; the informal "Takli Formation" is Maastrichtian in age based on on palynology, vertebrate, and ostracod fauna. Bed is "only a few inches thick" at Takli (Hislop & Hunter, 1855).
