When: Takli Formation, Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)

• Intertrappean beds within Deccan Traps; the informal "Takli Formation" is Maastrichtian in age based on on palynology, vertebrate, and ostracod fauna. Bed is "only a few inches thick" at Takli (Hislop & Hunter, 1855).

Environment/lithology: lacustrine - small; lithified siltstone

• "Part of a lake, extensive enough to be bounded at least on the west and south, and probably on all sides, by the horizon" (Hislop & Hunter, 1855). Likely a shallow lake given thin extent of lacustrine bed.
