• The dragonflies are preserved as compression fossils in a well-cemented marly layer called " Strato degli insetti" (GENTIUNI, 1986), outcropping in the higher part of the facies "Marne bituminose".

•Age given as Lower Messinian (6 mya)

Environment/lithology: lagoonal; lithified, fine-grained marl
