Al-Aqaba, Terrace 5, D, microfacies A (Pleistocene of Jordan)
Where: Jordan (29.3° N, 34.6° E: paleocoordinates 29.3° N, 34.6° E)
• coordinate estimated from map
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Middle Pleistocene (0.8 - 0.1 Ma)
• 238 000 years
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: lagoonal or restricted shallow subtidal; packstone
• abundant fragments of calcareous algae, corals, mollucs, echinoids and bryozoans. It also yields abundant Foramiminifera, rare planktonics and stromatolitic structures. Some glauconite grains are also present and the siliciclastic fragments are angular and rather badly sorted. This microfacies suggests a normal lagoonal environment.
