Also known as PRI Acc. 1267; GCH-1

Where: Panama (9.2° N, 79.6° W: paleocoordinates 6.7° N, 77.2° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Gatuncillo Formation, Late/Upper Eocene (37.2 - 33.9 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: In Madden basin, the Gatuncillo Formation is overlain by Caimato Formation and overlies Cretaceous basement. The thickness of the foramtion is difficult to estimate, but not more than 300 m. AGE: Late Eocene, on the basis of biostratigraphy.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: reef, buildup or bioherm; lithified, shelly/skeletal, calcareous limestone

• ENVIRONMENT: Carbonate facies, including algal and coral-rich limestones. No further paleoenvironmental data.
• LITHOLOGY: Algal or algal-foraminiferal limestones dominate the upper part of the formation. Other facies include echinoid bearing limestones, soft and coralliferous limestones. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of observation of specimens.

Size class: macrofossils
