Weglin Limestone (Miocene of Poland)

Where: Poland (50.7° N, 22.0° E: paleocoordinates 51.1° N, 20.7° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Weglin Formation, Middle Miocene (16.0 - 11.6 Ma)

• Middle Miocene (late Badenian). Observed thickness of limestones is about 5 m. Calcareous nannoplankton indicates Late Badenian nannozone NN6-7.

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; shelly/skeletal limestone

• Accumulated on the sea bottom in extremely shallow water, under high hydrodynamic conditions.
• Laminated crusts of coralline algae and shells of sessile gastropods.

Size class: macrofossils

Collection methods: Collections are housed in the Museum of the Earth (Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw). Material collected by Jakubowski and Macioszczyk between 1975 and 1979. Some material is housed in the Museum of the State Geological Survey
