Also known as Preondactylus holotype site
Where: Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy (46.4° N, 12.9° E: paleocoordinates 27.5° N, 16.2° E)
• coordinate estimated from map
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Dolomia di Forni Formation, Alaunian to Alaunian (215.6 - 205.6 Ma)
• "A late Alaunian (late middle Norian) date for the fossiliferous portion of the Dolomia di Forni was proposed on the basis of conodont assemblages bz Roghi et al. (1995) and Donofrio et al. (2003), but an early late Norian (early Sevatian) age is indicated by a more recent conodont analysis (Moix et al. 2007)"
• formation-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: basinal (); brown, yellow marl and dolomite
•"The Dolomia di Forni is composed mainly of dark, often cherty, well-bedded dolostone that is frequently thinly laminated and sometimes slumped. Thicker laminae are graded and represent distal turbidites...the basinal facies preserving the tetrapod remains are composed mainly of distal turbidites and carbonate mud deposited by fallout"
