• LITHOSTRATIGRAPHY: From the Celendín Fm, which locally overlies the Cajamarca Fm (Turonian). AGE: Coniacian, on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy; Buchiceras bilobatum zone. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Collection from unit 22, a 41 m thick marl unit, 456 m above base of section.

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, nodular, black, yellow, blue, calcareous shale

• LITHOLOGY: Shale, bluish black, laminated with few intercalations of nodular fossiliferous, yellowish limestone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of facies description.
