Environment: | open shallow subtidal | Tectonic setting: | cratonic basin |
Geology comments: "Environment: Probably the Janius Community of the Janius Community Group, as judged from the brachiopods, representing BA 3."
SEP: the Guelph Formation is a very well known and intensively studied unit for petroleum. It is known among petroleum geologists as a "dolomitic reef" and has been the target of drilling in Ontario and the Michigan basin for many years. There is evidence for subaerial exposure during the development of the these "reefal" buildups that fringe the Michigan basin (Charbonneau, 1990) |
