Stratigraphy
Formation:Mzamba
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Probably from the onshore Mzamba Fm on the basis of faunal similarity. AGE: Middle Santonian to Early Campanian, on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy. Assigned here to intermediate age of Late Santonian. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From concretion exposed on seafloor surface.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:fine,ferruginous lithified "siliciclastic"
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Ferruginous internal molds. Traces of the fine-grained, ferruginous matrix adhere to some of the specimens. Unfortunately no other data on the lithology of the are are available. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of facies description.
Environment:coastal indet.
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine siliciclastic setting.
