Hunt seems to think the locality is new, but F:AM records indicate the he is mistaken
possibly relevant: Archaeohippus sp. Dingus 1990: F:AM specimen from ? Marsland Fm. "near Spoon Buttes"; this could be from the Spoon Butte Beds "Merychyus siouxensis" Loomis 1924: type, from "Lower harrison beds, ten miles west of Agate"; this is close to but perhaps 4 mi E of Spoon Buttes
