H-4-E, Near Dallas (Eocene of the United States)

Where: Polk County, Oregon (44.9° N, 123.4° W: paleocoordinates 47.0° N, 107.5° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Rickreall Limestone Member (Yamhill Formation), Lutetian (47.8 - 41.3 Ma)

• Area now mapped as Yamhill Formation. The quarry exposes the Rickreall Limestone Member, which is at the base of the Yamhill Formation (Baldwin, 1964). The lower Yamhill Formation yields U/Pb and Ar-Ar ages of around 46.5 Ma to 46 Ma from tuffs and intercalated basalts, calcareous nannoplankton of zones CP12b to CP13, indicating a mid-Lutetian age (Wells et al., 2014).

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lithified, massive, gray, sandy limestone

• Dark gray sandy limestone, hard and massively bedded

Size class: macrofossils
