• Precisely at the base of the layers with coal, in a succession from Late Albian to Early Aptian. Biostratigraphy based on nannofossils, forams, dinoflagellates, and pollen.

•Bone concentrations AR-1/19, AR-1/48, AR-1/57, AR-1/58, AR-1/70

Environment/lithology: delta plain; coal and pyritic, black, gray, green mudstone

• Oliete Geological sub-basin, Aragonese branch of the Iberian Range. Freshwater to brackish "swamp plain."
• "a dark olive-gray to olive-black mudstone that preserves a high percentage of fossil plant debris…there is a great amount of pyrite (iron sulfide)…"
