Puerto Visser (Paleocene of Argentina)

When: Visser Member (Peñas Coloradas Formation), Late/Upper Paleocene (58.7 - 55.8 Ma)

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithified, coarse-grained, gray, red, yellow, sandy sandstone and lithified, fine-grained, conglomeratic sandstone

• The logs were found in sandstone coarse levels and thin conglomerates located at the base of the profile. In this profile of Peñas Coloradas Formation has an output of 78 m and is composed of "psamitas" and conglomerates with predominantly greyish color, but sometimes show red and yellow pigmentation. The conglomerates are presented as intercalations in "psamíticas" sequences in lenticular bodies of erosive base. The conglomerates are extra-formational, the mechanical structures of crosslinking are presented in the base and the roof profile and logs fossil levels and thin layers of foliar prints are in the base.
