San Pietro Al Tanagro, CE1 assemblage, upper part (Cretaceous to of Italy)

Where: Italy (40.5° N, 15.5° E: paleocoordinates 22.8° N, 14.0° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Early/Lower Cenomanian to Early/Lower Cenomanian (99.6 - 93.5 Ma)

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified rudstone and lithified grainstone

• Upperpart of the succession (50 m thick).
• The organisation of the lithofacies consists of interbedded grain-supported sediments. At different levels skeletal grainstone - rudstone beds are characterized by erosive surfaces, grading and grain orientation. The fossil community changes with an increase of rudists which become dominant. They represent the main source of skeletal material that formed sandy bodies.

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils
