Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithified breccia

• The Rancahué Formation consists of basalts, breccias and volcaniclastic conglomerates with intercalated tuffaceous levels, containing in situ angiosperm trunks at different outcrops of the unit, as well as petrified fern stems.

Preservation: permineralized, original cellulose

Collection methods: The studied specimens are housed in the palaeontological collection of the Museo Municipal ‘‘Carmen Funes’’ (Plaza Huíncul, Neuquén, Argentina) under MCF-PBPH numbers.
