• The macrofauna found by members of the Bristol University party dates the horizon as probably Turonian, this being later confirmed by the identification of the microfauna.

• The chalk exposed here, both on the face and in shattered blocks is greyish-white, and sometimes nodular: the nodules are occasionally green on the surface. Two minor bands on flint are also visible in the quarry face
