Tazareh Section, Alburz Mts, Transgressive lag c (Jurassic of Iran)

Where: Iran (36.4° N, 54.5° E: paleocoordinates 14.0° S, 47.6° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Shemshak Formation, Late/Upper Bajocian (171.6 - 167.7 Ma)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified, bioturbated, fine-grained, medium, sandy grainstone

• ...record transgressive event that quickly removed the sediment from the high-energy zone where, due to constant reworking, it would have gained a much greater textural and compositional maturity
• Fine- to medium-grained fine-sandy bio-grainstone with a partly micritic, partly sparitic matrix. The quartz grains are angular; finely disseminated iron oxide is common.

Size class: macrofossils
