• This locality is the type section for the Sangomore Formation.

Environment/lithology: peritidal; lithified, peloidal, shelly/skeletal, thrombolitic carbonate

• A 55 m thick succession of peritidal and shallow subtidal carbonates that were deposited on the Iapetus margin of Laurentia. The specimen was collected 25 m above the formation base from silicified, bioclastic, peloidal grainstone horizon occurring as an inter-maceria (sensu Shapiro & Awramik 2006) facies within a thrombolitic limestone bed.
