Gaho-dong, Jinju-shi (Cretaceous of South Korea)

Where: South Korea (35.2° N, 128.1° E: paleocoordinates 44.4° N, 122.7° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Jinju Formation (Shindong Group), Albian (113.0 - 100.5 Ma)

• =Dongmyeon Formation. Formerly given a wide age range (often Barremian), but youngest detrital zircon in Jinju Formation is 106 Ma, indicating an age no older than Albian (Lee et al., 2010)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine - large; lithified, fine-grained, gray shale

• Initiated by north–south left-lateral regional simple shear as a wrench tectonic system due to highly oblique subduction of the Izanagi Plate (Lee et al., 2010)
