Daxishan, Linglongta Township (NIGP collection) (Jurassic of China)

When: Tiaojishan Formation, Oxfordian (163.5 - 157.3 Ma)

• Currently, the Linglongta biota is regarded as representing the late stage of the Yanliao biota, which is clearly younger than the Daohugou biota (Huang 2015). The fossiliferous bed of the Tiaojishan Formation at Daxishan was dated as 160 ± 0.99 Ma by SHRIMP U–Pb dating (Liu et al. 2012), or as 160.7 ± 1.7–158.9 ± 1.7 Ma by SIMS U–Pb dating (Wang et al. 2013). Therefore, the fossils from Daxishan are clearly of early Late Jurassic age.
