When: Pygodus anserinus conodont zone, Holston Marble Member (Red Knobs Formation), Chazyan (468.1 - 460.9 Ma)

• Holston Marble is lower part of the Red Knobs under the original defintion; however, this is now all Holston.

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: red limestone and ferruginous, calcareous sandstone

• The Red Knobs formation is a thick succession of red to pink calcarenites and limy ferruginous sandstones up to 750 feet in thickness.
