• These strata were deposited in a moderately deep shelf of low relief, which were developed along the western coast of the Gulf of Mexico extending as far as the Western Interior of the United States of America and Gulf of Mexico Basin. Low oxygen.
• Cenomanian to Turonian Agua Nueva Formation, a dominantly carbonate unit comprising thick sequences of cyclic limestone and shale that are widely distributed in northeastern Mexico.
