• "Miocene (Ototaran)". Ototaran has been replaced by Kaitaian, Runangan, and Whaingaroan (Eocene-Oligocene, rather than Miocene). Tegulorhynchia material from type area comes from Whaingaroan strata (Lee, 1980).

Environment/lithology: lithified limestone

• Lithified based on fossil preservation and description of formation in Gage (1970) as "hard limestone alternating with basaltic tuff."
