When: Polygnathoides siluricus conodont zone, Cardiola Formation, Ludlow (427.4 - 423.0 Ma)

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified limestone and lithified shale

• Black bituminous shales interfinger with lenses of dark micritic limestones yielding nautiloids, bivalve representatives of the genus Cardiola (Kříž 1979, 1999) and cono - donts of the P. siluricus Zone. The fauna is dominated by nautiloids embedded in a matrix of bioclasts which are frequently coated by micritic envelopes
