When: Lower Oulodus elegans detortus Zone conodont zone, Alticola Formation, Pridoli (423.0 - 419.2 Ma)

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified limestone and wackestone

• The limestone sequence is composed of massive pink to gray wackestones/packstones with locally rich occurrences of large nautiloids, trilobites and solitary rugose corals in the middle part (Ferretti and Histon 1997, Ferretti et al. 1999, 2004, Ferretti 2005, Brett et al. 2009). The Ludlow/Přídolí boundary is drawn in the uppermost part of the steep slope, just below the upper boundary of the Oz. crispa Zone. Towards the top, the Přídolían part of the limestone sequence is represented by dark grey, massive to coarse-bedded wackestones and packstones rich in echinoderms including Scyphocrinites debris and even loboliths (Ferretti and Histon 1997, Ferretti et al. 1999, 2004, Ferretti 2005, Brett et al. 2009). The Silurian/Devonian boundary is drawn in the uppermost part of the unit, about 40 cm below its top, where the basal Devonian conodont Icriodus woschmidti Walliser was recovered.

Size class: microfossils
