When: Amorphognathus ordovicicus Local-Range Zone conodont zone, Irene Bay Formation, Caradoc (458.4 - 449.5 Ma)

Environment/lithology: lithified, argillaceous limestone

• The Irene Bay Formation consists of about 83 m of recessive, greenish weathering, argillaceous limestone, and minor shale. A prolific shelly fauna, informally called the “Arctic Ordovician fauna”, occurs in the Irene Bay Formation and was regarded as late Caradoc in age (Kerr 1967).
