•Beds in the middle part of the formation near Makaraipao yielded a mean 87Sr/86Sr ratio-derived age of 15.30 Ma (range of 15.14 ± 0.13 Ma–15.43 ± 0.09) (Moreno et al. 2015).

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; sandstone

• fossils here are found in poorly consolidated and highly oxidized sandstone, imparting a particular orange-brownish color to the bones
