Where: Japan (28.3° N, 129.9° E: paleocoordinates 28.3° N, 129.9° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Wan Formation, Middle Pleistocene (0.8 - 0.1 Ma)

• From the "Ryukyu Limestone." According to Humblet et al. (2009), The topography of Kikai-jima is characterised by three main Pleistocene terraces: Hyakunodai (180–225 m), Nagamine (120–130 m), and Kawamine (20–80 m) (Nakagawa, 1969). The Kawamine terrace age has been measured by electron spin resonance (ESR) dating technique as 0.39–0.65 Ma (Loc. 4 in Ikeda et al., 1991).
