• Middle Pleistocene, approx 0.4Ma. there are 13 different layers within the cave filling, only one of which contains fauna (CGDR or continental 'Grotte des Rhinoceros'). This is a marine cave inhabited during a period of lower sea level at a time of relative aridity.
