Where: Limburg, Netherlands (51.3° N, 6.0° E: paleocoordinates 46.5° N, 3.1° E)

When: Tienen Formation, Late/Upper Paleocene to Late/Upper Paleocene (58.7 - 48.6 Ma)

• This locality is either upper Palaeocene or Palaeocene/Eocene boundary. Downhole of this locality are marine limestones assigned to the Early Palaocene (Montain). The Montain has now been formalized as the Swalmen Member of the Landen Formation.

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; unlithified claystone

• The borehole is derived from lithologies that include grey, variegated, and sandy clays, fine grained sands, and browncoals (i.e. with 'continental' or 'limnic' aspect).
