Kolobolochi Nor B, Khunuk Formation (Miocene to of Mongolia)

Where: Mongolia (45.1° N, 101.0° E: paleocoordinates 45.6° N, 100.6° E)

When: Khunuk Formation, Miocene to Miocene (23.0 - 2.6 Ma)

• Relativley undisturbed buff to grey coloured beds outcropped around the camp. 'Superimposed on older deposits assigned to the Hsanda Gol Formation these sediments seemed homogeneous to the field party and were named collectively the Khunuk Formation.' Fossils were collected from three separate localities, which may or may not be of the same date so thay have been designated A, B and C'. One specimen was found at site B, which was discovered on July 1st and is '5 to 8 miles North' of Site A.

• Eight further 'Hippairon' houfenense specimens are known from Khunuk formation, but their locality is not known (could be Kholobolchi Nor A, B or C).
