• Formation spans much of Lower Devonian. Samples interpreted as Emsian on basis of Styliolina uralica.

Environment/lithology: marine; sandstone and siltstone

• "The small size of the fauna, together with lamination of siltstones suggests unfavourable conditions, possible with fluctuating salinity, water temperature and/or anoxia...Lack of sorting and fragmentation, high concentration of tentaculitids indicate low sed. influx and weak bottom current...shallow subtidal BA2-3."
• Formation as a whole: "sandstones and shales". Shells in coquinites or on bedding planes. See geology comments.
