Where: Teruel, Spain (40.7° N, 0.7° W: paleocoordinates 30.6° N, 9.3° E)

Environment/lithology: lagoonal; gray marl and fine-grained siliciclastic

• "This facies correspond to shallow coastal lagoon deposits, formed in fresh to brackish water (Diaz et al. 1987)"
• Unit 4 "is formed by sequences composed of marls and micrites with abundant Charophytes, Bivalves, Gastropods, fish teeth and vertebrate remains. Carbonate nodules frequently occur within the marls, and the micrites reveal desiccation features." (Diaz et al. 1984) See also Molina and Yebenes 1987.
