Outcrop 10: fauna from upper Myslejovice FM claystones in the Mala Hana valley (Carboniferous of Czech Republic)

Where: Czech Republic (49.3° N, 17.0° E: paleocoordinates 8.4° S, 18.2° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Culm facies Member (Myslejovice Formation), Chadian (345.3 - 345.0 Ma)

• AGE: Placed in Chadian to avoid stratigraphic orphaning.

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore; claystone and argillaceous, sandy siltstone

• "In the rhythmic sequence, silstones and claystones prevail over the coarser greywacke component. Fossiliferous layers mostly belong to the shale facies of a flysch character and pronounced rhythms of cm-order. The rhythms mostly show positive gradation: the base is usually represented by a fairly coarse greywacke component; the higher part consists of siltstones to pelites. Abundant organic remains are usually concentrated in thin dark organic rich laminae in the upper part of the sequence."
