Where: Victoria, Australia (37.8° S, 145.3° E: paleocoordinates 10.6° S, 175.1° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Lochkovian (419.2 - 410.8 Ma)

• Crinoid localities placed in approximate sequence based on presence of correlatable brachiopods and other elements. Crinoids themselves are not biostratigraphically useful here. Late Boucotia janeae Zone (Early Lochkovian).

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; siliciclastic sediments

• See Collection Comments below.
• Other than general statement that crinoids treated in this monograph are from clastics, localities are not accompanied by description of lithology.

Collection methods: "Virtually all the echinoderms known have been collected from quarries, road cuttings, creek beds or other man-made exposure. Structure within the Melbourne Trough consists of tight foliding wit long approximately N-S axes...Fossils occur in profusion in a few horizons...but most of the sedimentary sequence is unfossiliferous...The crinoids described herein come mainly from the few horizons where fossils are prolific and preservation is superb; very large numbers of articulated echinoderms occur there..."
