Where: Victoria, Australia (36.9° S, 144.7° E: paleocoordinates 3.0° S, 174.3° E)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Ludlow (427.4 - 423.0 Ma)
• Crinoid localities placed in approximate sequence based on presence of correlatable brachiopods and other elements. Crinoids themselves are not biostratigraphically useful here. Late Aegiria thomas Zone (Ludlow).
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: marine; siliciclastic sediments
Collection methods: "Virtually all the echinoderms known have been collected from quarries, road cuttings, creek beds or other man-made exposure. Structure within the Melbourne Trough consists of tight foliding wit long approximately N-S axes...Fossils occur in profusion in a few horizons...but most of the sedimentary sequence is unfossiliferous...The crinoids described herein come mainly from the few horizons where fossils are prolific and preservation is superb; very large numbers of articulated echinoderms occur there..."
