Environment/lithology: marine; silty shale and sandstone

• "[formation's] oldest parts are silty shales with concretions. They grade into an alternation with increasing sandstones which become partly quartzitic. In the upper third shelly faunas become moderately abundant...In the top of this sequence red sandstones prevail, locally the very top is channeled and grey calcareous sandstones full of large-sized Schizophoria fill the channels..."
