Environment/lithology: marine; poorly lithified, concretionary, micaceous, brown, gray, yellow, silty, carbonaceous shale and poorly lithified, fine-grained, glauconitic, shelly/skeletal, gray sandstone

• firm to unctuous when wet or brittle when dry, brownish-gray or brownish-black weathering to dark yellowish-orange, laminated to very thin-bedded, muscovitic, lignitic, silty shale; contains irregular medium dark gray, very thin silt partings and small, very hard, round light olive gray, calcareous concretions enclosing a few thin shelled fossils; at 3.0 ft from the top a thin (0.1-0.2 ft) bed of crumbly, olive-gray or olive black, fossiliferous, fine-grained glauconite arenite
