Environment/lithology: fine-grained, dolomitic, gray limestone

• 'The Chouteau is a light to dark gray dense fine grained limestone which commonly consists of thin irregular beds. Massive layers are common and are composed of dolomitic limestone. Shale partings are irregular and discontinous throughout the formation but appear more commonly in the lower 15 feet'.
